Saint Louis University School of Medicine has a long tradition of excellence in teaching, research and patient care. Established in 1836, the school has the distinction of awarding the first medical degree west of the Mississippi River.
The school is a leading center of research in infectious disease, liver disease, aging and brain disorders, immunology, and neuroscience. The School of Medicine is located on the SLU health campus south of the main campus, adjacent to the nursing and allied health schools, and across Grand Blvd from SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital and SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Hospital.
